Abstract
This article assesses the problematic and multiple identity of contemporary European cinema. Identifying and assessing some of the problems that continually confront European cinema, with particular reference to finance, production, and distribution, I argue that a more positive viewpoint should be adopted, based on the quality, quantity, and variety of films that are currently being made.
