Abstract

This paper reviews recent research on high speed optical routers for datacenters, paying particular attention to recent studies of hybrid MZI-SOA switches. Experimental studies show 15 dB IPDR with 1 dB penalty for 16×16 switches with nanosecond switching times. Quantitative analysis shows the feasibility of building switches with up to 2048 ports.
