Abstract

Research has been conducted to provide guidance for optimising the thermal performance of building materials made from bamboo. A two dimensional heat transfer simulation of a Phyllostachys edulis bamboo sample was implemented in this study using Comsol Multiphysics software. Full scale proof experiments were conducted to obtain comparison data. The factors which influence thermal conductivity were analysed and integrated with the basic numerical formulae for the purpose of interactive adjustment and optimisation between the simulation and experiment.
