Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine bio-availability of naturally active substances in optimised topical dosage forms of Acanthus ebracteatus Vahl and Clerodendrum petasite S. Moore. Vanillic acid, chrysin and verbascoside were found in ethanolic extracts of both plants and were quantified by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with ultraviolet (UV) and/or mass spectrometric (MS) detection.
