Abstract

We made fibre mode multiplexers by adiabatically merging three dissimilar fibre waveguides. The LP<inf>01</inf> and both LP<inf>11</inf> modes were excited with better than 0.7 dB loss, 10 dB mode purity and 100 nm bandwidth.
