Faulted-phase selection scheme for China 500kV transmission line based on wavelet transforms and artificial intelligence

Abstract

This paper extends the application of a previously developed faulted-phase selection scheme to China 500kV transmission line. The scheme is based on wavelet transform and artificial intelligence technique and is implemented and examined using MATLAB Simulink. Various types of fault taking place at different inception angles, different phases, and different locations in this specific transmission line system are simulated and used to validate the scheme. The results show that the proposed scheme is robust and accurate. And most importantly, its performance is independent of the power transmission system type.
