Research output: Patent

Abstract

Clips for cable fairing segments for underwater elements such as towing cables. Clips (12) interconnect adjacent ends of pairs of fairing segments and are made from a thin strip of plastics. The clips have a transverse or cord-wise cut (13) extending from the free ends of their arms (14) to define anchor elements (15). When the cable is bent the clips allow pivoting movement between the pairs of segments (10), which they interconnect, greatly reducing or preventing creep of the segments along the cables.
