Exploring the Warehouse Automation Technology Adoption Process and Impact: An In-depth Case Study

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

This research focuses on exploring the adoption of automation in warehouse practices. Warehouse automation literature mainly investigates the technical side of automation projects. However, this research aims to have a managerial focus on the subject and seeks insights into the human and organisational side of the new technologies. Online semi- structured interviews have been conducted with employees of a global supply chain company which is both a user and a developer of warehouse automation technologies (WATs). This paper discusses the motivations and challenges of WAT adoption. We intend to provide accurate knowledge to businesses to support their automation decision- making processes.
