Abstract

The following erratum is provided for the paper by Nagarajan and Ranade entitled “Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Biomass Using Vortex-Based Devices for Cavitation: Influence on Biomethane Potential,” Ind. Eng. Chem. Res., 2019, 58, 15975−15988. On page 15975, in the “Abstract”, the fourth line from bottom should read “Up to 24% enhancement was observed in BMP after cavitation pretreatment using vortex based devices” On page 15983, first column, last paragraph, the second sentence should read “The untreated slurry on the other hand yielded 175 mL of CH4/g VS, and the maximum yield of 229 mL of CH4/g VS was observed with the slurry after nine passes through the HC device which was higher than that of the untreated samples by 24%. The untreated SCB slurry yielded 40% of the theoretical BMP, whereas after nine passes, 52% of theoretical yield was achieved.” On page 15983, the data shown for pretreated SCB with 36 and 117 passes in Figure 6b has errors. The corrected Figure 6b is as given here. On page 15983, the fitted parameters reported for pretreated SCB with 36 and 117 passes in Table 3 has errors. The corrected Table 3 is as given here. On page 15984, first column, the fourth line below Figure 8 has some errors. The corrected sentence is “In the case of SCB, however, the maximum possible yield was achieved after nine passes. A 52% yield was achieved after nine passes compared to 40% from the untreated SCB slurry. From the energy gain calculations (as discussed in section 3.4) the maximum energy (Figure Presented).
