Abstract

In the context of a world of finite resources, wood, timber and engineered timber products offer the opportunity to construct schools and houses, offices, concert halls and long-span public buildings in a much more sustainable manner. Engineering design is discussed for a range of timber buildings that have used sawn timber and complex laminated and engineered timber in frames, arches, grids, gridshells and shells.
