Abstract
A project to assist Cummins to increase the fuel efficiency of their generating sets (composed of an internal combustion engine linked to an electrical generator). Cummins Power Systems is a world leader in diesel engine design and supply. They are keen to improve the fuel efficiency of their electrical generators to enhance their market position and to enable their customers to benefit from fuel savings and reduced carbon dioxide emissions. The team at Bath has expertise in this area and will apply a systems engineering approach to identify potential areas for reducing the loss of energy as heat.
