Abstract

In this paper we demonstrate that the magnetic moment of the exciton increases due to its motion along the magnetic field, and the diamagnetic shift decreases. These effects were observed for a set of quantum well structures with different well widths and based on a variety of semiconductor compounds. The reason for these effects is mixing of the exciton's center of mass motion and the internal motion of the electron and hole in the exciton.
