Abstract

Here, we report an experimental study of droplets colliding with a soap film. The behavior of the droplet is found to be dependent on the impact velocity. The threshold for a droplet to pass through the soap film is influenced by the droplet diameter. The contact time decreases with increasing impact velocity.
Emphasis is placed on whether the outer shell remains intact. When the dimensionless contact time approaches 1, collapse of the shell begins. However, the shell does not collapse with further increasing impact velocity.
