Abstract
The development of the supply chain digital twin (SCDT) offers a new perspective for supply chain management, improving operational efficiency and decision-making foresight. This chapter explores the SCDT, starting with the foundational idea of the digital twin (DT) and its application in digitalizing the supply chain. We review the concept of SCDT and outline its key components. The chapter also highlights five critical technologies enabling SCDT. Common applications such as demand forecasting and risk management are discussed. We summarize the three main implementation challenges from technical, managerial, and legal complexity aspects. Finally, future directions for SCDT research are proposed.
