Abstract

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) offer a flexible approach to online and distance learning and have grown in popularity. However, not much is known about their effectiveness and longer-term impact on learners’ professional practice. We evaluated a quality improvement (QI) in healthcare MOOC, which aims to improve learner’s knowledge and understanding of such approaches in healthcare. Our findings show that the course has had a positive impact on learners’ confidence with and familiarity in QI concepts and activities. On the other hand, we found no positive impact on learners’ actual knowledge.
