Abstract

The invention relates to methods suitable for detecting Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. elaeidis relying on DNA primers that are designed to a virulence factor gene unique to Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. elaeidis, wherein the sample is grown on Czapek-Dox Iprodione Dichloran medium (CZID) medium, DNA is extracted, and the DNA product is visualised. Preferably, the virulence factor gene is oxido-reductase ORX1. Preferably, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. elaeidis is detected in seed fragments or pollen samples of plants by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using primer pair ORF F1/ORF R1.
