Abstract
This paper presents a proposed new methodology for the integration of end of life issues into the design of new chemical plant. The methodology includes methods relating to business strategy, engineering management and engineering design. They are intended to allow organizations to develop awareness of the decommissioning issues relevant to design and to implement preventative measures. Such measures have the potential to reduce the whole-life costs and impacts of chemical plant projects by eliminating, reducing or mitigating the costs and environmental impacts associated with future decommissioning.
