Abstract
The routing of 10Gbit/s optical data packets has been demonstrated using a compact InGaAsP/InP vertical coupler optical space switch array. The fast switching speed of the device allows an interpacket guard-band as short as 2ns to be obtained with an adjacent packet suppression ratio of -50dB.
