Abstract
A novel semiconductor laser source suitable for wavelength division multiplexing applications is reported. The device is formed by monolithically integrating an array of reflector and output amplifier waveguides with a low loss transmission grating and focusing mirrors in a very compact manner. A prototype device generates signals at two wavelengths simultaneously with a channel separation of 21 nm.
