Abstract

The 1-methylene-4-phenylcyclohexadiene triosmium complex [Os₃(CO)₉(μ₃-η²:η ²:η²-H₂C=C₆H₅Ph)] has been prepared from the reaction of [Os₃(CO)₉(μ₃-η²:η ¹:η²-C₆H₅Ph)], which contains a side-on co-ordinated carbene group, with the Wittig reagent H₂C=PPh₃; the crystal and molecular structure of the product has been determined by an X-ray diffraction study.
