Abstract
The book is for use with families who have experienced a family member with a moral injury. It contains discussions about moral injury. Adults (such as parents, carers, extended family members, support workers, clinicians and educators) are encouraged to pre-read the book to ensure it is right for the child they are supporting. It is important to note it is not for general group or classroom reading. We strongly recommend reading the book with the child one-on-one. This approach allows the child to ask questions and potentially share their experiences in a safe and comfortable environment. They may not wish to share but just talk about the character’s experiences. This might feel safer for them, rather than sharing what is happening in their family. They might share later, when the book is read again, or when they feel more comfortable and have time to process what they have learned.
