Abstract

Convection may play a major role in spatiotemporal pattern formation in addition to diffusion. Previous numerical works revealed that the pattern formation is significantly affected by the gapwidth of the Hele-Shaw cell. This paper discusses the experimental observation of how the dispersion relation characterizing the stability of planar fronts of the chlorite-tetrathionate reaction depends upon the systematic variation of the gapwidth of the Hele-Shaw cell.
