Controlling the chirp in electroabsorption modulators under digital modulation

Abstract

Time-resolved chirp measurements are presented for a multiquantum well electroabsorption modulator which are in good agreement with Kramers-Kronig calculations. The device delivers negative chirp by control of both the operating wavelength and electrical drive.
