Conditional preparation of single photon wavepackets in pure quantum states

Abstract

We demonstrate the generation of uncorrelated two-photon states through parametric downconversion with specific source engineering and show how this produces pure heralded single photons. Experimental data showing photons with over 95% purity are presented.
