Abstract

The observed decay of ultrasonic attenuation below T in high-T superconductors is discussed. Its magnitude is found to be many orders of magnitude larger than predicted by analyses developed to explain electronic attenuation in metallic superconductors. It is concluded that it is highly unlikely that the phenomena observed in the high-T superconductors have the same origin as those found in conventional metallic superconductors.
