Abstract

Significant differences are observed between long wavelength multiquantum well (MQW) and bulk distributed feedback (DFB) diode lasers in terms of their gain switched dynamic performance. Through careful comparison of experimental and theoretical results, carrier transport is found to be particularly important in determining gain switched operation.
