Abstract
The acid-base reaction of the AlIII imido cubane [AlMe(Nmes)]4 (mes = 2,4,6-Me3C6H2) with Li[PH(C6H11)] yielded the heterobimetallic cage complex [Li(OC4H8X]4-[{(AlMe)[μ-P(C 6H11)]}2{μ-P(C6H 11)}]2·C6H5Me, the metallacyclic tetraanion of which is the first example of an AlIII phosphinidine anion.
