Abstract

The effect of using laser-based transmitters in multimode fiber (MMF) links was studied using 13 different representative fiber samples, all of 62.5 μm core diameter. Measurements showed that in eight cases, the link bandwidth with a laser transmitter module is far below the bandwidth for the over-filled launch (OFL). This effect was studied by measuring detailed impulse response.
