Abstract

This paper presents a solution for the automation of powder processing for tablet production within the pharmaceutical industry. This work is placed in context with the advances in automation currently being undertaken. A single- vessel prototype is introduced which eliminates the need for the conventional eight distinct unit operations by combining htese within a single-vessel. Validation of the vessel is achieved by examining each of the sub operations within the processing cycle. It is anticipated that this vessel will aid in the overall automation of pharmaceutical and food production, providing a facility which enables flexible production of powder processing
