Abstract
SnO 2 thin films were deposited on activated Au foil by vacuum coating. Au-Pt / SnO 2 / Au composite electrode was prepared by reducing HAuCl 4 and H 2 PtCl 4 mixture solution and self-assembling Au-Pt nanobimetallic particles successively on the SnO 2 /Au. The composite electrode was characterized by SEM, TEM, XPS and cyclic voltammetry method. The results show that nanobimetallic particles are well distributed and the average diameter of the particles is about 25 nm. The SnO 2 as a modifying layer binds with Nanobimetallic particles via coordination bonding. The electrode of Au-Pt/SnO 2 /Au composite electrode has good electrocatalytic activity for methanol oxidation.
