Art Empowers: Preventing Child Exploitation

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Three young people are submitting their entry as a collective, having worked on the artwork collaboratively. Mae, Mark, Leah (Young Person's Action Group).

We want to raise awareness to others about the exploitation of children and County Lines. There are 32,000 children today at risk of being exploited or persuaded into County Lines and probably a lot more. We spray painted images that show the factors of being pulled into what seems like a caring and friendly group. And the dangers of when the hard reality hits: control, violence, fear, and being trapped. We hope this shows to others that it is not worth going through the struggles of exploitation and County Lines for material objects, money, or ‘friendship’.
