N2 - Who’s Afraid of Gender? is a welcome addition to the growing literature tackling the rise of anti-gender politics. Butler’s status in and of itself offers some weight to the much-needed counterargument to those reactionary politics. This is especially valuable as Butler is part of a generation that has at times turned its back on contemporary struggles. Their candid acknowledgement of the role played by younger generations in their own journey is refreshing, as exemplified by the book being dedicated to “the young people who still teach me.”
