An Investigation into Teaching English: Case Study in a Chinese Secondary School

Abstract

This case study investigates a teacher's teaching practices in a Chinese secondary school in an attempt to research what pedagogies a Chinese secondary English teacher employs in the classroom, what challenges the teacher meets when teaching English to Chinese secondary school students and how the teacher deals with the challenges that he faces. In the study he teacher applies various ways to respond to challenges that are caused by the course book, learners and motivation. However, there are also some unresolved challenges for the teacher.
