Abstract

Centrifugal compressors have been widely employed in the industrial field and can be a core component in petrochemical and industrial processes. However, breakdowns or deteriorated performance of centrifugal compressors can be bring significant adverse impacts on the profitability of a business. This paper presents the working principle and common faults for centrifugal compressors. The state-of-the-art fault diagnostic methods for each fault are reviewed. Furthermore, condition indicators which are helpful for diagnosis are recommended. The paper provides an applicable guide for setting up a systematic condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system in industries.
