Abstract
In Sebastiano Serlio's architectural treatise entitled the Architettura, the second book (1545), on the subject of perspective, concludes with a description of how to build a small temporary theatre which is illustrated by a plan, section and three stage views. A model constructed using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software allows for the full visualisation of this Renaissance theatre and an assessment for the first time of the effectiveness of Serlio's famous perspective scenes when viewed from different positions within the audience.
