A compact thermosonic inspection system for the inspection of composites

Abstract

A portable thermosonic inspection system has been developed incorporating a miniature microbolometer array camera. The vibrations excited during a test are monitored using a high frequency microphone and assessed automatically to validate the test. The system has been trialled on aerospace components containing impact damage.
