10Gb/s data transmission with a 1.3μm InGaAs quantum dot laser

Abstract

Error-free 10Gb/s data transmission using an InGaAs QD-laser over 4km single-mode fibre and 300m multi-mode fibre is demonstrated for the first time. The spectral linewidth of the QD-laser is the dominant limitation on transmission distance.
