Project: Research council

Project Details

As a chair of the CSCT public engagement committee, I jointly organised a public engagement outreach event targetted at underprivileged groups in the Swindon area. The project was a collaboration between New Elements (the organisers of the Swindon Science Festival), the CSCT, Create Studios, the Harbour Project and the Swindon Street Reps. The activity was funded using a grant from the UKRI research council.

Layman's description

A project to engage with refugees and youth groups in the surrounding area in the areas of science and sustainability.

Key findings

The stakeholders delivered several skills and teambuilding sessions, culminating in three short videos jointly created by the Swindon Street Reps and the University of Bath researchers. These videos were based on three topics in sustainability: food waste, plastic pacakging and the future of transport, and were released to coincide with the COP26 climate conference.
