Layman's description

We will investigate the potential of coworking spaces (CWSs) to contribute to
geographically distributed digital manufacturing activity and regional levelling up in the
UK. CWSs open possibilities for revitalising regional manufacturing and place-based
growth, commensurate with the Levelling Up agenda.

In the UK, the role of CWSs is largely absent from regional policy discussions and the
Levelling Up agenda. Yet, demand for CWSs is growing especially post-pandemic and
moreover in peripheral areas This research project will inform UK regional policy on the strategic role CWSs could play in enhancing digital manufacturing performance, attracting high-skilled workers, relocation of existing business activities and stimulating entrepreneurship in a more spatially dispersed way and so contribute to the Levelling Up agenda.
