This project aims to support the development, testing and implementation of the creative and innovative activities being developed by the social assistance teams (SUAS), in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It offers an opportunity to explore this process in a Latin American country so offering a unique cultural context in which to examine the implementation and diffusion of social innovation. The project brings together the expertise of Prof Brown, an international expert in the development and implementation of social innovation in health and social care with Prof Cordeiro’s specific work with social psychologists in the integrated teams in Sao Paulo.
The Social Assistance Teams in Sao Paulo, Brazil have been charged with developing 'innovative' and 'creative' service responses. This project examines what activities the teams have been doing that are new and innovative. Through understanding these 'case studies' we can learn much about what has helped and hindered their development and support other teams to make this a more effective process.
