Review of research on care, communication and learning with children under 3, and its development in relation to varieties and quantities of provision for child-care. The purpose of the review was to provide up-to-date information to help develop and advise policy decisions regarding provision of care for children aged 0-3.

We searched literature in the fields of Child
Psychology, Family Sociology, Child and Family Health, Early Education and Social
Anthropology, and the rapidly growing sources of data on the experiences of children in various care environments, and their effects on development.
