This project aims to contribute towards addressing the inequity in health care access for children in Ghana. Despite improvement in maternal and infant health care outcomes in Ghana in recent times, most children suffer health deprivation. There are also inter- and intra-regional variations in child healthcare access. The uneven access begs the question whether recent nationwide implementation of social protection programmes, including cash transfers and the targeted component of the national health insurance scheme (NHIS). Relying on a mixed-method approach, the project aims to deepen understanding the scale of and causal explanations for the limited access and variations in child healthcare is paramount in formulating an effective policy response.
