The core of the research is around everyday strategies of peace making in Colombia. The former guerrillas are overwhelmingly from indigenous and mestizo communities and from poorer back grounds, where basic education has been unavailable for over 50 years if not longer. Further, unlike many other insurgent groups, the FARC has had a large participation of women fighters. The intersectional qualities of trying to implement a national peace while dealing with the local characteristics of the post-conflict situation is the core of the research project.
