Layman's description
The NextGen-O2k all-in-one Oroboros is a state-of-the-art instrument that measures mitochondrial respiration in whole tissues from eukaryotic organisms. Mitochondrial respiration (MR) is a key set of metabolic reactions and processes that require oxygen and take place in mitochondria to convert the energy stored in nutrients to the universal energy source adenosine triphosphate. Mitochondrial dysfunction is a key characteristic of common conditions such as obesity, ageing, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s (amongst many others).
