Extracellular vesicles (EV) are of increasing interest as potential therapies for various disease conditions. They range in their size from being as small as a few tens of nanometres in diameter to up to a micrometre. The exact difference in terms of content and function of the various subpopulations has not been elucidated yet as there is no efficient separation system available to size sort the EVs.
