Project Details
Description
The pumps referred to in the project title deal with highly erosive slurries that limit their lives. Such erosive slurries: can occur in minerals and ore processing, can be the form in which energy reserves occur, or can be otherwise occur or be used in energy recovery. The project purpose is to investigate the possibility of step improvements in the protection of pumps against erosion – hence in pump performance - notably by means of smart and self-healing elastomers via improved understanding of the behaviour of these materials and of the erosion process itself.
