GW4: Gender Based Violence Network

The aims are:

· to continue to strengthen the GW4 GBV Network, and

· to build on the existing work of the GW4 GBV community by developing a ‘grand challenge’

inter-disciplinary research project that aims to shape policy and practice resulting from the

Istanbul Convention in the UK and Europe.


This will be achieved by the following objectives:

· holding two GBV Network meetings involving staff, post-docs and postgraduates, and

further sub-group meetings to develop the large grant proposal

· carrying out the groundwork needed to develop the large grant proposal (literature reviews,

re-analysis of existing data, obtaining access to data/sites, assessing feasibility of methods)


The longer-term objective is

· to make recommendations for policy, practice and interventions that combines individual,

institutional, and societal approaches to tackling GBV.

· development of broader conceptual/theoretical understandings of GBV.
