Automated micro-fluid Dynamic Gauging (AmFDG) is a specialised measurement tool designed for measuring the thickness of soft layers deposited on porous and non-porous surfaces in situ and in real time. the operation is based on fluid mechncial principles and works in liquid environment. The automated system will allow measurements to be made on-the-fly with minimal manual input. In combination with computational modelling, measurements from AmFDG can also be employed to infer the mechncial strengths of the deposits.
