Description
The project titled "English Medium Instruction in Saudi Arabia: An Exploratory Study" aims to evaluate the current state and effectiveness of English Medium Instruction (EMI) in Saudi Arabian educational institutions. First, a systematic review of existing literature will be done to understand what research has been done on EMI in Saudi Arabia. Then, a study on the perception of the use of ChatGPT in EMI contexts to enhance teaching and learning in Saudi Arabia will be carried out. The findings will offer evidence-based recommendations for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders to improve EMI implementation and integrate AI tools effectively to facilitate effective EMI teaching and learning. This study aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative, aiming to modernise the educational system and promote bilingual proficiency. The research will contribute to the academic discourse on EMI, identify research gaps, and suggest future research directions, ultimately supporting the educational objectives of the region. The project will be conducted over 12 months, culminating in detailed reporting and dissemination of findings to inform policy and practice.
