Developement of energy efficient method to recover lithium from searwater. The project will combine the membrane filtration and adsorption to enhance lithium recovery. Screening and development of nano-filtration (NF) membranes to enhance Li concentration of the brine solution. The performance of selected NF membranes will be benchmarked for Li concentration enhancement using a low to high Mg2+/Li+ ratio systematically. The inﬂuencing factors such as the solution concentration, operating pressure, water inlet temperature, and pH of solution will be investigated. Screening most suitable adsorbents and ion exchange resins for Li recovery; these include lithium manganese oxide (LMO) and modifications, specific resins developed for adsorption of monovalent metal ions, and more recently developed metal organic frameworks ( MOFs) that will be compared with baseline materials.
